Furniture is around us every single day – we live with it and it lives with us. The big wooden table has been the heart of a home for generations. This is where we eat and talk, celebrate and laugh, quarrel and reconcile. Chest of drawers and sideboards hold all the things we gathered over the years of our lives. A chair invites us to stay.
Everyday items last throughout the years and equally delight us with their form and function – finally they become heirlooms. And exactly because these things are more than just a piece of furniture their creators put their heart and soul in their quality and character.

As a technical term nut+grat refers to a traditional method of carpentry consisting of the groove and burr. As manufacturer nut+grat stands for timeless furniture for the living, working and object area with a personal character and highest requirements regarding quality. nut+grat likewise combines sophisticated handicraft, perfect workmanship, exquisite and valuable materials, elaborate functions and consistent aesthetics in its furniture collection.
Furthermore, nut+grat symbolises the cooperation between the brothers Beat und Adrian Schnidrig. This cooperation strives for an intensive analysis of engineering knowledge and architecture, technique and design, which serves as a breeding ground for innovative ideas and sophisticated furniture of the manufacturer.
The furniture of nut+grat conveys a clear attitude: Design as a symbiosis between function and form by means of established handicraft and most modern technique is very impressing. The high-quality materials of the nut+grat furniture collection come from the region. Carefully selected natural products are processed, whereby, with respect to their extraction, sustainability and ecological responsibility are focussed on.
The single pieces of furniture of the nut+grat collection speak a clear language and are timelessly modern. Each piece of furniture is designed, developed and produced for its specific purpose and use. A table is a table and a chair is always a chair. The actual situation and use in everyday life defines the ideal form and function of the furniture.
The furniture collection of nut+grat comprises different furniture ranges and single pieces that harmoniously complement each other. All pieces of furniture represent the existing collection; however, they can also be an inspiration for the individual ideas of customers. As customer you can accompany the manufacturing process and by talking to us personally you can have your ideas realized.
The products of nut+grat are manufactured by the carpenter's workshop Schnidrig, a family business which exists since 1929. The new place of production in Visp/CH, which is equipped according to the most modern technical standards, creates a basis where highest know-how and innovative cooperation can be realized every single day.
